A lot of people focus on the first dance and whether they should have one and what the song should be, but not everyone considers the last song of the night. We always ask couples if they have a specific song they would like to end the night with. What we have sometimes found is that the last song often takes the place of the first dance with couples who chose not to have one… all guests gathering around the floor celebrating the moment.
A new development on the wedding scene is the private dance at the end of the night. This is where all the guests leave the room and the couple have a dance in the room alone. If you choose to do this, it is good to have a song for all the guests before the DJ invites them to leave the space. This can also be a good option for the self-conscious who don’t want to be the centre of attention for a first dance.
You may be providing transport for your guests- a bus or taxis to take them to accommodation off site. If you are doing this at your wedding we recommend that you don’t book it too early. It is hard when the dance floor is enticing you with your favourite song and people are wanting to say their goodbyes. When planning your timeline, it is beneficial to end the night earlier if necessary so that you can say goodbye to your family and friends but not miss out on a potential crescendo.
